Audio: Seb Beloe on founding Berkhamsted Transition Town

Transition Towns are about offering members of communities a space in which to come together a feel empowered, according to Berkhamsted Transition Town co-founder Seb Beloe.

Since 2009 Berkhamsted’s group have promoted environmental film screenings, debates, energy efficiency projects, community garden groups, local food groups and much more.

Speaking To RTCC ahead of a Berkhamsted Transition Town event to mark Climate Week 2012, Beloe said the project was about engaging and energising people from all backgrounds in the community.

Beloe is Head of Sustainability Research at WHEB Asset Management, which focuses on sustainable investment, but says the key skills needed in setting up a ‘Transition Town’ are enthusiasm and perseverance.

He admits, however, the group still has a long way to go before the entire community is involved.
