COP18 (01/12/12) – Dr R Seetharaman, Chief Executive Officer at the Doha Bank talks about how the Doha conference has brought the climate debate to the heart of the challenges – the region with the most fossil fuels worldwide.

He acknowledges that over 40% of the world’s oil and 20% of the world’s gas comes from the Arab region but also says the region is committed to sustainable development and to supplementing fossil fuel resources with renewables.

He says that no significant action has been taken since the Kyoto Protocol was adopted and says that now is the time to see execution of plans and action. He asks; where do you start with these actions? And answers; the region with the most hydrocarbons worldwide.

He stresses that the region’s long term values are around sustainability and social development.
