Rio+20: Creating city networks around the world

Rio+20 (22/06/2012) – Mercedes Bresso, President, Committee of the Regions of the European Union talks about the role she has representing the 90,000 cities and villages around the EU.

She says her role at the conference is to talk to other cities and regions around the world about improving the role of cities in the global discussions as well as developing concrete instruments and actions which can be taken at a global level between cities and regions around the world.

She talks about the importance of realising the objectives of the Rio Conventions for cities, using the example of biodiversity and its importance for building resilience in cities and the surrounding areas.
