Dr Stadelmann tells Climate Home that South Pole Group is a global solution provider on climate change and sustainability. They help businesses and cities, financial sector and national governments to become more climate friendly. Dr Stadelmann’s specific focus is cities and climate finance, he helps cities to access private and public financial investors. He tells us that cities are committed to 2020 and that in Paris governments have an important role to play in supporting and enhancing city actions. Cities emit 70% of emissions worldwide and currently can only access 20-30% of climate finance. By investing climate finance in cities they can implement actions such as energy efficient building, public transport systems and decentralised waste solutions. Dr Stadelmann believes Paris has the potential to accelerate momentum towards a low carbon economy and is optimistic about COP21.
