COP19: He JianKun on China’s energy comsumption

COP19 (20/11/13) – He JianKun the Vice Chairman for the National Experts Panel on Climate Change speaks about China’s energy consumption.

The biggest problem that energy planners have in China is coping with the growing economy and the total demand for energy consumption.

China urgently needs to address increasing energy consumption by promoting energy efficiency and controlling consumption. They can do this by improving their energy mix by including renewable energy sources.

He says that China has made lots of improvements in the last two decades however a rapidly growing economy means that new problems must be addressed.

In the next twenty years China should aim to produce more energy from gas and renewable energy. This would be a strategic choice for China as it would solve their problems related to air and water pollution.
