Desertification and a loss of rural productivity in Afghanistan are exacerbating an already difficult situation in the country – a leading official has told RTCC.

“Climate change is not only an environmental problem but it has contributed to a lack of peace and stability,” he said.

“We are losing land productivity and degradation and glaciers melting are other issues. These are major water resources in my country, and thees are the impacts we see in Afghanistan.”
