COP19: Chizuru Aoki, Global Environment Facility, on reporting emissions

COP19 (18/11/13) – Chizuru Aoki of the Global Environment Facility talks about her work with member states.

She believes that this is an important conference with many high priority issues like technology transfer and finance. She talks about the progress of recipient countries of the Global Environment Facility in using their resources to reach their mitigation obligations.

They are helping countries with reporting their emissions profiles and have up to 26 countries requesting help.

They hope that all the eligible countries will come to them to access finances to comply with what countries have agreed on in terms of reporting back to conventions. Parties have agreed on a measurement reporting verification system (MRV) which they are supporting.

They will continue to support the green climate fund and hope to promote synergy among different climate financing instruments.
