COP19: Edi Assoumou on using system analysis in water-scarce regions in the Middle East

COP19 (15/11/2013) – Edi Assoumou, Mines Paris Tech, talks about using system analysis in regions affected by water scarcity, such as in the Middle East.

He says there is an increased need for energy to supply water. Therefore, system analysis brings insight in regions where water is scarce but high in demand and the stress on energy demand linked to climate change is also high. It allows you to look at how to manage the system as a whole says Assoumou.

He says that the most important energy saving measure is irrigation because a lot of water is consumed in agriculture. But, he says, system analysis is a tool for both developed countries and developing countries.
