Omar Jilani: Pakistan’s battle for potable water

Omar Jilani: Chairman, Pak Oasis Group

Businessman Omara Jilani outlines the struggle his company faces in providing clean water to millions of people in Pakistan.

“We’re heavily involved in the south of Pakistan in Sindh province, and the govt recent decision was that all people should have clean drinking water,” he said.

“We primarily are working in this area. By March 2013 hopefully 45% of the province will be covered. the Biggest prob we faced was that the water is saline, and in certain areas it was so polluted they could not drink it.”

He added: “The biggest challenge people face is health. Hepatitis and other waterborne diseases are at a high in developing countries.”
