COP18 (29/11/12) – Hamad Mohammad Al-Kuwari, Managing Director at the Qatar Science and Technology Park talks about the work the Park does in overseeing research and development in Qatar.

He talks about the Qatar National Research Strategy which sets out the country’s vision for 2030, including addressing environmental impacts. He says the Park aims to help realise this vision.

He talks specifically about the research they are doing into solar energy, and the Park’s solar demonstrator. He says that while there is plenty of sun in Qatar it is important to understand the impacts of country’s climate including high temperatures, humidity and dust, on existing technologies. He says this will help them to find solutions to allow the great efficiency possible for these technologies.
