CBD COP11: Environmental education needed in India

Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (18/10/2012) – Dr K. M. Khaleel. Chovva, Principal of Sir Syed College, describes the environmental challenges facing the Indian state of Kerala and the work he is doing to confront them.

Chovva explains that Kerala has lost much of its forests and its wetlands and coastal areas have been degraded, all due to population pressure.

Chovva states that the work of the Kerala chapter of OISCA International responding to this has won awards from the Indian government. He describes his work setting up ‘green clubs’ in schools in the region.
