CBD COP11: Trees and ecotourism as climate change responses in India

Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (16/10/2012) – K. N. Banerji, Additional Principal, Chief Conservator of Forest and Director of Ecotourism for Andhra Pradesh, India, explains how he hopes to incorporate lessons from the CBD COP11 in his work for the government of Andhra Pradesh.

Banerji goes on to explain that he sees planting trees as the best way to tackle to climate change and as such has worked to ensure his state harvests and replants 5000 to 10000 hectares of trees each year.

Banerji also discusses ecotourism in India, but explains that it needs more money dedicated to it to develop – money he hopes will be provided by the private sector.
