Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (15/10/2012) – Prakash C. Jha, Executive Director of Desein Private Limited, discusses how policy, in particular scientific policy, needs to engage more with Indian society at large.

Jha describes his company as a science policy advocacy organisation and comments that people are in general interested in science but not necessarily aware of the importance of scientific policy.

Jha also argues that practical solutions need more time invested in their development. At the moment he feels there is an imbalance between the low interest in practical solutions and the high interest in academic research and policy.

Jha laments that the Indian Prime Minister is only coming for a brief time: he sees this as part of the continuing disconnect between politicians and the everyday lives of the people of India.
