CBD COP11: Sustainability must be profitable to be successful

Rio Conventions Pavilion TV, CBD COP11 (12/10/2012) – Saylee Salvi of Bangalore-based climate and sustainability consultancy, Climate Miles, talks to RTCC about how her company hopes to turn an environmentally responsible profit.

Salvi shares her vision for her climate change and sustainability consultancy, Climate Miles, creating profits through the green economy. She argues that sustainability must be made profitable for companies: she believes this is the only way in which the major behavioural changes required to solve climate change will take place.

Salvi describes the work of her company as largely consisting of IT products and services. In particular she highlights their emissions database, which is specific to India, that allows them to offer detailed carbon footprinting for companies. She also describes the company’s sideline in videos and teaching resources for schools.
