Selvanayagam discusses the moral side of energy systems by taking a bioethical approach. He says all his students are taught to view their studies with a bioethical eye.

He says as India develops it is using more and more fossil fuels and by applying a bioethical approach to this process, more sustainable methods can be found to permit this development while also cutting levels of land degradation, forest removal and air pollution.
