Rio+20: Conserving environment and cultural heritage in Maasai communities

Rio+20 (21/06/2012) – Samson Parashina, President of Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust talks about why he was given the UNEP Champion of the Earth Award 2012, for grassroots leadership in the community. He says his work aims to create sustainable development for community members, offer sustainable economic benefits for them and preserve wilderness, wildlife and cultural heritage.

He says to date they have been able to save a migratory corridor for wildlife between two national parks in the region.
