Rio+20 (20/06/2012) – Tarja Halonen, Former President of Finland talks about the importance of including women in the negotiations process. She says while there have been huge moves forward – particularly in developing and African countries of having good input of women – there are still many challenges we face.

She says it is women who notice the multi-dimensional effect of climate change and sustainable development and also women who notice the impact on countries of economic growth that does not also include social justice – particularly with 70% of the world’s poorest people being women – as they have more practical experience of these issues.
