Rio+20: How Japanese technology is powering low carbon cities of the future

Rio+20 (14/06/2012) – Sosuke Kimura, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO), explains the work they are doing trying to develop Japanese technologies aimed at lower emissions and their hope to share these with other countries at Rio+20.

Technologies including renewable energy technologies, super conducting cables and electric storage technologies.

Kimura says that the agency is working on creating the smart city – and researching the right balancing point for batteries between the consumption and the renewable power generation within a city, using demonstration technologies in countries including New Mexico, France and Spain.
