Rio+20: Weapons contamination major barrier to quality of life

Rio+20 (14/06/2012) Rachel Chagas, Secretary of the International Committee of the Red Cross told Pavilion TV that weapon contamination is a major problem facing regions where conflict has occurred.

She said even decades after conflicts end, people are unable to go about their day-to-day lives with the threat to unexploded bombs and mines, and much of the land for example in Angola can no longer be farmed.

Red Cross work to help people find the location of such mines, as well as helps with rehabilitation of victims and aiding them to get their lives back.
