Rio+20: 20 years of the Earth Negotiations Bulletins

Rio+20 (13/06/2012) – Pamela Chasek, Executive Editor of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin talks to Pavilion TV about the 20 years of the bulletins, their work covering 25 different negotiation streams, aimed at helping provide transparency and allow people to access information on the negotiations for free and at their fingertips from anywhere in the world.

She says they aim to offer an objective snapshot of what is happening each day – as difficult as this may sometimes be.

Over the last 20 years, Chasek believes we have seen a lot which would not have been possible without the original Earth Summit include programmes of work on climate change, biodiversity, desertification, sustainable fisheries and pollution, and that the process since the Rio ’92 conference has opened up a forum where the three pillars of sustainable development – the economic, the social and the environmental – can be brought together as one.
