Thom Yorke and Tony Juniper

Tony Juniper, former director of Friends of the Earth, and Thom Yorke of Radiohead, are passionate in their disappointment over the stagnation of the negotiations, defence of historical positions, and lack of leadership in Copenhagen. Thom Yorke claims world leaders have been “hiding behind closed doors, bullying people and splintering people off.” Tony Juniper says they “have completely bungled their best opportunity” to deal with climate change in time. They applaud countries that have behaved with honour – in particular the Maldives and their commitment to go carbon neutral. They discuss the impact on voters, the need for direct action, and above all the imperative for a functioning political process to help people on the ground.
