Kelly Rigg

Kelly Rigg of the tcktcktck campaign and Executive Director of the GCCA says that if we do not commit to a 1.5% reduction in global temperature rise, we are consigning a significant number of countries to oblivion. She says in most of the developed  countries “There is an appetite for change”. She discusses the US$500 million fossil-fuel lobbyists have invested to defeat climate change legislation.  She explains how civil society influence at the negotiations is overrated; she sees it as a place to hold governments accountable, but that action on the ground back home is still important and that more needs to be done.  She says there is a disconnect between what is happening at home and what is said at the negotiations.
