Kuni Shimada, from Japan’s Ministry of the Environment, discusses Japan’s target to reduce emissions by 25% compared to 1990 levels by 2020, as announced at the UN summit in September, and he says the new government’s level of ambition is much higher. He also calls on other countries to take similar steps, and he says that Japan has a special obligation to set an example for other Asian economies.
