The Global Fuel Economy Initiative is at COP21 to show the results of their recent campaign to get lots of countries to improve the fuel economy of their car fleet. They currently work in 27 countries including Kenya, Mauritius and India. They work on capacity building, which entails analysing the current car fleet, the fuel they use and projecting how big the fleet will get. They then discuss what policy options are available to address fuel usage to reduce carbon emissions and bring down costs. Sheila explains that by 2050 projections show that car use will have tripled and cars need to be more efficient. Increasing efficiency can save 33 gigatonnes of greenhouse gases and 8 trillion dollars by 2050.  Finally, Sheila wants there to be a clear commitment to efficiency at COP21 and for negotiators to remember that many solutions can already be done.
