Christopher B. Field, Carnegie Institution for Science

Christopher emphasises the importance of the IPCC in providing a definitive knowledge about the climate challenge and as a foundation for the progress being seen at COP21. He thinks carbon pricing will be critical in playing a part to level the playing field for all technologies needed in the transition. Christopher highlights the fact that globally we have transitioned from the problem space of climate change where we questioned whether climate change was occurring to the solutions space. He thinks there are a lot of opportunities in this solutions space for innovators, leaders and a new economy. When asked how accessible IPCC summary for policymakers reports are, Christopher explained the importance of ensuring scientific facts are correct and cannot be misunderstood by any country. Finally, he recognises there needs to be greater ethnic and gender diversity within the IPCC lead and author scientists.
