Claudia Toledo Matos, Social Project Leader, Acciona Energy talks about the Spanish company’s wind energy projects in Mexico.

Acciona Energy currently has four wind farms, of approximately 540MW, across the country.

Matos says good relations with the Mexican government and local communities has meant the Mexican public have welcomed the company’s wind energy projects across the country.

She says Acciona Energy is committed to ensuring that its wind farms are beneficial to local communities and currently has social projects in place across two small Mexican towns which are collectively home to approximately 9500 people.

Matos adds that she hopes renewable energy sources, in particular wind energy, will replace non-renewable energy sources, such as coal and oil, in Mexico within 5-10 years.
